Well, I just finished unpacking from my much needed vacation. Now I need a vacation again to recover before I go back to work. I know, it sounds like a cliche, but I need a vacation to recover from my vacation. Now, I know what you are thinking and yes, it is true to an extent. I did drink too much…but only on a couple nights and never enough to give me a hangover.
My favorite event of course was the infused vodka contest. I took the trophy back with my grape-basil infusion. It was much more popular than I thought it would be. I liked it, but it was not my best. It was good enough to win by a single vote, so that is good enough for me. I capped off the evening with a Cuban cigar and some wine. All in all, a wonderful evening.
We also played a couple rounds of golf while we were there. I played a round at Aspen Lakes and it is an awesome course. Some of the best views I have ever seen. The course was difficult, but not so difficult that I tossed my clubs. Well, my driver, but only once.
Well, time to start the laundry, but I should hopefully have more time to post again. Baseball is over for the season, so I have more free time.

Well, it has been a week since I started my infused vodka and I already have it strained and ready to go. The basil was removed before 48 hours. It was way too strong. now that I have removed it and given the grapes more time to flavor the elixor, I can’t really taste the basil. It’s like walking on a highwire. Timing has to be pretty much perfect to get the tastes just the way you want. I may throw in some basil a day or so before we leave and remove it 24 hours later, just to get that basil flavor back in there. Otherwise, the vodka is good. I think I have a shot at winning the competition again this year and reclaiming my trophy. If I don’t, oh well, I’ll be drunk.
Another competition this year we are having is a rib cookoff. I would love to compete this year as I believe I make some of the best ribs around. I have a nice salty spicy rub I make and a secret sauce I found at a local market. Problem is, I cannot find the sauce anywhere and the bottle I had went moldy on me. My wife makes some good teriyaki ribs, they’re just not as good as my bbq. Oh well, maybe another time…
Getting ready to start golfing again in the next couple weeks. Can’t wait to go out on the course again. Hopefully, I am not too rusty from the offseason. I guess though when you have my game, you really can’t drop to far anyway.
