Every morning I wake up, brush my teeth, shave and head out to work. Each day I get to work and I wonder what will this new day bring that will just piss me off. Now, I really try not to be negative. I do. I do! I know that people think I see the glass as half empty. That is true. It’s not that I cannot see the water in the glass, I just want the glass to be full. I appreciate the half glas of water I have, but I don’t see what is wrong with wanting a fuller glass.

This brings me to my job. I am very happy to have a job. I work really hard for the company that employs me. I have looked the other way as people treated me and thers absolutely miserably, but went unscathed because “sales people bring in money”. I always say “they can’t sell anything if I don’t keep their computers and servers running”. Which is true. Whether or not you realize it, you IT staff in your organization is what keeps things ticking. You need to make a sale? You want to get reimbursed for expenses? You want to develop software? You want a paycheck? Well all these things depend upon your IT department. Without the computers you use and the servers you use, not only would you not be able to do your jobs, your companies would not be able to cut your paychecks. Remember that the next time you are asked by your Help Desk to look under your desk and tell them your port #. “That’s your job” really isn’t an appropriate answer to give someone trying to help you. In fact, when you say things like this, it just tells us that you don’t really want help at all.

On another topic…. NBA. What are the Blazers thinking? Offer Brandon Roy the max deal. Quit screwing around with this 4 year BS and give him the contract he has earned. Aldridge deserves pertty close to the max as well. Get it done now. If you let them become restricted free agents at the end of the year, there is a very good chance that you will lose one if not both. Yes, you have the option to match any offer, but disrespecting your top players is not how you bring in top free agents. Kevin Pritchard, I am beggin you… please….. get it done.

Long Week

January 10, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I am glad to have this work week over with as it has been a tough one. At the start of the week, our company had a large reduction in workforce. Many of my friends and a couple of people I work directly with on a daily basis were cut. It’s hard to say goodbye to so many people, some of which I have worked with for years, in one day. It is especially hard, knowing that some of the people were let go for political reasons, rather than performance. I think that people who use these reductions in force to help their own agendas, rather than the company’s are pitiful. The person I am speaking of is about the lowest of life. If he doesn’t like you, he will do what he can to cause youo misery and get rid of you. If you are above him, he will scheme to get rid of you. If you are his equal, he will try to do the same. If you are below him, he will treat you like dirt if you do not do as he pleases. While I am very much tempted to use his name here, I will not. I will say that I hope that he eventually gets what is coming to him. His team despises him and basically views him as an untrustworthy lowlife. If any of them get the opportunity, they will stab him in the back. I hope I am there when it happens. I would smile.

If you’ve read my blogs, you’ll know that I am a huge Pearl Jam fan. They announced recentely that they are going to rerelease “Ten” in several different versions. Can’t wait. Anyway, I have seen them in concert many times. They are the best live band I have seen. This song, in particular, is my favorite that they do live..
